Hi, I’m Erika!

I’m the person behind Tura Lura Co. I’m an educator/artist and the accidental entrepreneur who is now purposefully creating this business.

I started by making concrete and candles during the most lonely days of the pandemic. When I was awarded an artist grant, I founded Tura Lura Co

I love bringing people together through candle-making and have witnessed the community that blossoms from creating together.

As the events grew, I intentionally planned to expand the shared experiences, which led me to my West Branch, Iowa studio.

I cherish the opportunity to connect with others and dive deep into conversations while we create together. Join me in shaping this studio into a vibrant (and aromatic) space for creative hearts.

When I’m not online with Tura Lura Co. I am often working and teaching at UI, volunteering at the one of many places I serve in Iowa City, or have the kids in tow. While I’m often on the move, always feel free to reach out! The easiest way to contact me directly is at erika@turaluraco.com :)

What does the name TURA LURA mean?

Tura Lura (pronounced Toorah-Loorah) is the name of an Irish Lullaby, and a link to my family. My grandmother sang the song Tura Lura to her girls, they sang it to their kids, and now I sing it to mine. The name is a reminder of all the women that paved the way for me, and how I hope to create space for others based in connection and love.
