The process + raw products

Creating concrete and candles is a mixtures of science and art. It’s following a formula, applying math, and adding creativity.

The process of casting concrete is quite rigorous. Mixing the formula of cement and natural color additives, getting the thick mixture smooth with water and pressure, finally pouring and tapping to release air bubbles. Casting for just enough time, removing without breaking, then allowing to cure. Once the water is fully evaporated, sealed three times (with drying time in between). Then light sanding and finishing details. It takes about 2 weeks to produce once, and due to the small batch nature it can take a bit to build up the stock.

Pouring candles for the new version of concrete requires me to cast in a mold, allowing the insert to easily release when you are ready to change out your candle insert. I make these for you, to reduce waste and also allow for more fragrance choices. After you have burned your candle to about a 1/4 inch at the bottom, place the whole container in the freezer. After a few hours the wax shrinks and you can use a spoon to pop out the cold wax and remaining part of the wick. Then place a new insert in the concrete container, and viola! Your candle is refilled.

Inside the candle is 100% soy wax and natural clean burning oils. I use a cotton wick threaded with paper. This ensures your candle is 100% phthalate-free and lead-free. I use only non toxic ingredients in all my work, and I spend a lot time sourcing quality materials from the Midwest and from other small businesses. I care about the process and what raw materials are in my products.

Burning your candle should be a relaxing and mindful experience! Thanks for entrusting me to help you be more sustainable in your candle consumption. Let your light shine!
